How to find journal articles
The Library provides journal access in the following
ways:
-
From our print collection
available in the library. Some of these print journals are also
available electronically.
Direct links to these electronic journals are also available
via the A-Z Full Text Journals list in the Library's Electronic
Resources Portal.
In addition, when you search using Medline or PubMed (via the
Library homepage) you will be able to view full text access
to e-journals provided through the CHC plus those subscribed
to by the library. You can only view these journals this way if you at the RVEEH.
-
The Library also includes useful journals that provide free
full-text access on the Internet. These are also available via the Library's Electronic
Resources Portal.

Searching for a journal article or doing a literature
review?
Journal articles can be retrieved in the following ways:
-
PRINT:
From journals held in the library's collection.
-
USING SUBJECT INDEX
Through searching electronic index databases such as EMBASE, Meditext,
Medline and PubMed.
These provide citations with abstracts and also links to full
text. Medline, via the Electronic Resources Portal, has links
to the Ronald Lowe Library's e-journal holdings. PubMed (from
the portal or the library homepage) has full text links to the
Ronald Lowe Library's e-journal holdings (if you are at the RVEEH).
-
FULL-TEXT SEARCHING
From the A-Z Full Text Journals listing in the Library's Electronic
Resources Portal.
Also from journals available electronically over the Internet,
some at a cost and others free. Links to these e-journals may
be available from index databases, library catalogues, or other
web sites.
-
CONTENTS SEARCHING
Journal publishers offer journal article retrieval through keyword
searching from their web sites. This means that their journal
contents can be searched on the Internet for keywords in their
titles. Some of these are provided free and some require a fee.
