This is a great book for all levels of the medical profession, graduate and student alike. The book can be broken down into roughly 3 sections. Chapters 1-5 deal with physiology, patient examination and include expanded commentary on disc analysis and visual field determination. Chapters 6 to 20 deal with different types of glaucoma. Chapters 21-26 deal with glaucoma treatment both medical and surgical. This book is a good teaching guide for trainees in their early stages of learning. It has been updated since the last edition and includes some recent references and new photographs. For a book, it is particularly up to date. Essential aspects of glaucoma are covered with concise text, which is very easy to read and not esoteric or off-putting. The chapters are also well illustrated with clear photographs and line drawings. The succinct chapters and illustrations make it very handy for ophthalmologists when it comes to discussing glaucoma with their patients who have the condition. It would help in the 'informed consent situation' regarding potential treatment. I think all medical libraries should possess this book.
