ELECTRONIC RESOURCES PORTAL

What is it?
This is the gateway to valuable e-resources of electronic
journals, e-books and databases accessible to hospital staff, RANZCO
Fellows/members and other authorised users. Customised for the Ronald
Lowe library by Health Communication Network (HCN) , this initiative
will, in future, enable the additions of more electronic resources
and databases. The portal project is jointly funded by the Royal Victorian
Eye & Ear Hospital and the RANZCO Head Office in Sydney.
What are the benefits?
The portal's Unified Search Engine (USE) program is
able to search across the electronic resources and databases that
the library subscribes to or has free access to. This saves time for
the user and maximises his/her use of the available resources.
For example, a search for Cataract surgery complications will
retrieve results from a wide range of e-resources included in the
database.
How do I gain access?
In the first instance, you will need to Contact
US or email us (library@eyeandear.org.au)
to obtain your username and password. With one username and password,
you are able to access a wide range of e-journals and other resources
that you previously had to remember separate passwords for.
When can I begin using it?
The portal goes live on Friday 6th October. You may
begin using it if you have your username and pasword. Please contact
us for any assistance you may require.
The portal will ultimately replace the current Electronic
Journals link on the library homepage.
I hope that this initiative will be of value to you.
Your feedback to the Library Team on improvements would be greatly
appreciated.
