LIBRARY MEMBERS:
Entitlements: Access to materials within the library and services provided
by library staff, cheaper rates for chargeable items and services and
borrowing of library materials.

Health Service *
- RANZCO Fellows, Ophthalmological
and Trainees Associates of the Royal Australian and NZ College of
Ophthalmologists *
- Staff and postgraduate research
students of the University of Melbourne, Departments of Ophthalmology
and Otolaryngology*
- Postgraduate students of Audiology,
University of Melbourne (controlled borrowing)*
- Undergraduate medical students
on placement at RVEEH (no borrowing)*
- Overseas students & overseas
short term fellows on placement at RVEEH (no borrowing)*
- Others at the discretion of the Library Manager
and Chair of the Library Advisory Committee

After-hours access to library available upon application
to the Library Manager to the following: RVEEH staff, RANZCO
Fellows and Trainee Associates [Registrars]. RVEEH staff on temporary
attachment for 3-6 months are entitled to Library Membership with no
borrowing. RVEEH Staff on temporary attachment for more than 6 months
are entitled to full membership but are still required to furnish
a letter addressed to the Library Manager to confirm their attachment.

This includes Researchers and Clinicians in
permanent employment and those on attachment for more than 6 months.
In both cases please furnish a letter addressed to the Library Manager
from your Head of Department.
*Controlled
borrowing (maximum of three items borrowed at one time).
*No
borrowing however access to photocopying (at the membership rate), document
delivery, literature searches and in-house use of journals and resources.
NON LIBRARY MEMBERS (HEALTH PROFESSIONALS):
Entitlements: Access to most materials within the library with minimal
assistance from library staff. Australian Health professionals who are
not library members and wish to borrow items from the library may do
so by paying an annual
fee. Non members are charged a higher rate for services provided
through the library.
- La Trobe University Orthoptics students.
- Australian Health professionals not employed by The
Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital Health Service.
- Students currently enrolled in medical, nursing or
allied health training programs not outlined in "Library members"
at discretion of Library Manager.
OTHERS:
People who do not fall into one of these categories (eg. general members
of the Australian public, patients, students, non-health professionals)
are asked to apply to the Library Manager in writing stating their reasons
for requiring access.
