Services

A. Conducting research- how the library can assist you by:

  • Providing advice on structuring your research
  • Providing advice on using Medline, Pub Med, Cochrane Library and other web-based medical citation databases
  • Conduct a search on your behalf

When library staff conduct a search on your behalf we do have access to some databases which are only available on the RVEEH network - these include - Medline, British Nursing Index, EMBASE, Meditext (Informit), EMBASE, Micromedex, Harrison's Online and Australian Medicines Handbook.

B. Keeping up to date - how the library can assist you to keep up to date with developments in your topic of interest.

Library Staff can assist you in keeping up to date with developments and new research in a topic of your interest or your specialty. Many databases and online publishers have electronic alert options on their web site.

These updates usually come in three forms:

  • electronic Table Of Contents (eTOC) email or RSS alerts for the latest online journal issue's table of contents
  • search results of the latest published citations (from a search you have saved on a particular database or an online journal)
  • alerts when a new article is published which cites a particular reference
