issues are identified.
A. PUBMED LINKOUT TO FULL- TEXT JOURNAL ARTICLES.
1.0 Access within the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear
Hospital network
Problem 1
Solution 1
Solution 2
Do not know which link to select on the full text provider screen?
For Elsevier Journals
For EBSCOHost journals
Go to the Science Direct box and select article
via Science Direct
Select EBSCOhost Electronic Journals Service
Problem A1.2
Solution A1.2
Cannot see the RVEEH logo on journal article
abstracts in PubMed?
The availability of a journal title in the library is designated
by the RVEEH logo in the abstracts. However, this is only enabled
if you access PubMed through the link on the library homepage
or from the Electronic Resources Portal.
Accessing PubMed via Google or from other websites will not
display our holdings logo in abstracts.
Cannot download PubMed full text journal articles
from home?
When searching PubMed externally either through the portal
or from the direct link on the library homepage, you will
not be able to download full text of articles by clicking
on the RVEEH logo on the abstracts because seamless access
to full text articles via PubMed is only enabled on the hospital
network. You will need to write down the citation and retrieve
the article via the portal by selecting A-Z Full Text Journals.
B. ELECTRONIC RESOURCES PORTAL
1.0 Searching via the portal within RVEEH
Problem 4
Solution 4
Cannot return to the search results screen
after
viewing a full text?
When selecting a PubMed search result or any other database
search result, you would have technically left the HCN server
that hosts the portal and taken to the external server that
hosts that particular resource. This is why you will not be able
to click on the back arrow to return to your initial search
results. You will need to close that external link window (s)
to view them again or click on the minimised portal (or Unified
Search Engine) window at the base of your screen.
Problem B2
Solution B2
Cannot see the PubMed abstract when returning &
conducting an article search on the Unified Search
Engine (USE) screen?
Unfortunately, your new search page has taken over the PubMed
page. This is an issue that the library will resolve with the
provider. To view the abstract again, please click on the link
in the search result page.
